Disappointing, Fails as a steadycam
By Amazon Customer
Not much in favor. Here are the Cons:- The handle is connected too tightly to the support. A primary objective of a steady mount is to isolate your movements from the camera. But when you move your hand a bit the camera tilts as well. I put a drop of oil on the riveted plastic pivot but it's still too stiff. Some kind of two-axis gimbal is required for the handle but there's only a stiff riveted pin that barely moves and on only one axis. No isolation from the photog.- The bottom is too heavy to counterbalance a small camera, such as a Sony RX-100. This means that any left/right/forward/back motions ALWAYS cause a tilt/rotation of the camera. If you move forward the camera tilts down. Move left and the camera rotates CCW. Small movements cause large angular changes in the direction the camera is pointing. Unusable.- It also cannot balance a larger camera, even a mirrorless SLR like my NEX-6. The problem simply is that the camera's tripod mount is not at its center -- most of its weight is to the right of the lens. Since there's no left/right mounting adjustment on the StealthyGo, the whole assembly tilts about 30 degrees to the right (CW) when it comes to its best balance. It's simply impossible to adjust it to get any kind of vertical balance. Forward/backward movements cause the (tilted!) camera to rotate right/left. Your only recourse is to hold it steady, but this completely DEFEATS the PURPOSE of a steady cam mount!- THe StealthyGo is bulky and awkward such that it overwhelms the size and weight of your camera. Maybe this is a necessary aspect of any steadycam system, but this mount fails in all stabilization categories.- It's not useful as a tripod at all, and as a monopod it's clumsy and too short.. The construction is molded plastic and the mount head is not solid -- it rotates 360 degrees with 90 degree click stops that aren't sturdy. Kind of cheap construction. All in all, it's useless as a steady mount and it cannot even achieve a vertical balance! It's better to just use your regular tripod for a steady mount. Fold the legs together and grab it at a balance point below the head. Avoid this low priced unworkable mount. Steady it ain't..
