So close to 5 stars!!

This handle is great. I believe the handle will last a lifetime. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars, is that the manufacturer could have found a grip material that offset the buoyancy of the product. Not to make the handle float on it's own, but to help it float with the GoPro float on the back of the camera. Even with that float in place, the pair still sink like a stone if dropped in the water.This is just a rant. I never expected it to float when purchasing, just a suggestion on how they could turn a great product into a perfect product. By all means, buy this handle. It will last you a lifetime of use.

Extend Your Hero's Utility

I received a Hero 3+ as a gift, and one of my first thoughts was, "This will be useless as a hand-held camera." Not any more. The Smatree handle fits comfortably in my hand, holds the camera securely and makes hand-held use easy. I looked at several products, and Smatree's mostly aluminum construction sold me. The handle itself is solid and wrapped in a comfy rubber grip.The lanyard fits securely around my wrist, so I'm not worried about dropping the camera. All in all, this is a great addition to my Hero kit, making the camera much more useful.

I loved it, but then it broke

When I first received it I couldn't have been happier. I used it on a few snowboarding trips and it held up perfectly. Then the threads on the screw top striped and it's basically useless now. There's only 2 rows of threads so there isn't much holding power there. I didn't think I was over tightening it either. Might be worth a shot if your careful and using it for something less active. Just sharing my experience with it.
