Many problems

I thought this cable was the answer to my prayers. I wanted to use an external power source AND an external microphone so I could shoot all day with good audio. Unfortunately, I've had nothing but problems. Lots of freezes initially, but then those seemed to go away when I installed new firmware (4/4/13). Now my tests have both noise from the cable and some dark flashes in the image. I did some troubleshooting to be sure it was the cable. I don't know if I should return the cable or return the camera too! It's too bad.

a good accessory

USB adapter allows you to provide power to Hero3 while using the camera. At the same time you can provide headphone level audio *input* to the camera, and (via 3 RCA plugs) get audio output and composite video output ... all at the same time.My only 'wish it were different' comment is that the cable from the USB-mini plug to the breakout of the individual cables is kinda stiff and heavy. It does bend to any degree you want, but you know how USB-mini plugs are ... they don't latch into place so some risk of coming out with turbulence or bumps. With normal use in my airplane, the USB-mini has stayed plugged and never dislodged.

If you want to connect a Hero 3 to most Av equipment this cable is a must have. Gives you RCA out plugs and a 2.5mm stereo sound out and a female mini usb out plug.
