I've been waiting for this GoPro battery pack

The GoPro battery pack doubles your battery life.It just snaps on top of the standard battery (On top of the cover) and the interface slot handles the connections.You get 2 housing backs that accommodate the thicker profile.The 3 battery power LED's are very handy. Just push the button to read.The 2 new GoPro devices, the LED Screen and Battery pack cannot be used together, and I wouldn't want to.

Sweet, yet could be better.

Stand alone charging that I can also connect to the camera allowing for longer shots... Just what I wanted.Size is same as the LCD bacpac but the battery bacpac weighs almost as much as the whole camera. Not sure if I would want it attached to my head mount.What would I change or ask differently? How about a little carrying case that I can safely carry this in when not in use. I worry about damage to the port when not in use. Same issue I have with the LCD bacpac. Most of us use the cameras for what they were designed for, action shots, meaning that having a small safe carrying case is essential.

Extended shooting, but not as much as you'd Think!

When I bought the Battery BacPac I expected that if I was adding a second battery, I would be doubling the battery life of the device. Unfortunately that didn't turn out to be the case. I use a GoPro HD HERO2 camera, and when I'm shooting 1080p video at 30fps I generally get about 2.5 hours of video before my battery dies. Adding the battery BacPac only added about an additional 1 hour to that! The issue is not the battery its self, if I take the second battery out of the BacPac and put it directly in the camera, I get a similar amount of time to my original battery, so it appears that the BacPac its self is actually using some (a lot) of the power from the second battery?I contacted GoPro support about this, and they told me thatt generally they expect the Battery BacPac to add 1 to 1.5 hours of life. So, if you're looking to extend battery life, and your application allows you to "switch" batteries, then just buying additional batteries may be a better way to go.
